Improving Structural Capacity of the Serbian Statistical Office on view of approximating European Statistical System

The primary aim of this Service Contract is to substantially advance the approximation of the Serbian Statistical System to the European Statistical System's requirements in the four components:

• National accounts infrastructure adopted to ESA 95 providing reliable indicators of economic development and structural changes;
• A fully prepared agricultural census procedures and support systems in place, staffed with inspectors, enumerators and other personnel that are developing the required knowledge and skills to perform their duties in the field work;
• A well assessed ICT structure to enable statistical production in the most efficient and less costly way;
• Dissemination and communication with suppliers and users of statistical data to whom the changes are well communicated and are cooperative towards implementation.

The project is financed by the European Commission under the Instrument for Pre Accession (IPA). It begun its operations on 2nd February 2009 and is of 30 months duration.

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia is the principal project beneficiary and partner. Other key stakeholders to the project are major official statistics producers, data providers and users of official statistics including the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank and the Republic Geodetic office.
